Dancing: My Life, My Passion

"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create dreams" -Albert Einstein
Dance, the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself.
Dance is more than the exploring of different ways to make a shape or learning a series of steps to music; it is a way of moving that uses the body as an instrument of expression and communication. Through dance, students learn teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills.
Dance
is a powerful impulse, but the art of dance is that impulse channeled by
skillful performers into something that becomes intensely expressive and that
may delight spectators who feel no wish to dance themselves. The
English ballet master John Weaver, writing in 1721, argued on the other hand
that “Dancing is an elegant, and regular movement, harmoniously composed of
beautiful Attitudes, and contrasted graceful Posture of the Body, and parts
thereof.”
A truly universal definition of dance must, therefore,
return to the fundamental principle that dance is an art form or activity that
utilizes the body and the range of movement of which the body is capable.
Unlike the movements performed in everyday living, dance movements are not
directly related to work, travel, or survival. Dance may, of course, be made up
of movements associated with these activities, as in the work dances common to
many cultures, and it may even accompany such activities. But even in the most
practical dances, movements that make up the dance are not reducible to those
of straightforward labour; rather, they involve some extra qualities such as
self-expression, aesthetic pleasure, and entertainment.
When I was 4 years old, I knew that my heart really loves dancing. My family told me that I was like my mom. She also loves to dance just like me. Being a young dancer is a challenge for me but I know that it will all be worth it. My dancing career started when my teachers in my old school asked me to dance on some events and programs. They told me that they were really amazed because I performed well and I have the confidence to perform in front of a big audience. They also told me that I am a graceful dancer. I was very overwhelmed and happy with their comments and reactions on their faces. By that time, I realized that I will pursue dancing and make my dreams come true.
When I was 6 years old, my mom enrolled me on some workshops where I can be trained on my dancing and also acting skills. I was discovered by Mr. James Salas, the former UMD dancer on abs-cbn. He saw me perform on Sm Little Stars and he said that I have a talent on dancing that's why he asked me to join his workshop, JTS Motion Studio and Workshop. He also offered me to be my handler and I accepted it and I had a 5-year contract on his studio. But with some issues, after 2 years, I needed to resign on his studio. But my dancing career did not end there. When I was 8 years old, I joined a TV Reality Show, Anak ko Yan in GMA 7. Luckily, I was picked as one of the 14 members of the Anak ko Yan Cast. But, unfortunately, I did not win the reality show. I was eliminated after almost 2 months. I was the 4th evictee of the cast. Though my career ended there, I told myself that I wont stop!
After that event in my life, I said that I will first prioritize my studies because I am an honor student since I was in kinder and I don't want to be distracted on my studies because I have the goal to be our batch valedictorian. But still, i did not stop dancing. I still dance on some programs and events in our school, on some concerts and celebrations in the MIP Parish. Now that I am in highschool, I was once a part of the TSPA dance troupe here in MIPSS. Because of that, I was picked as one of the lead roles on the musical play, "Fantine: A Dream Untold". I was chosen to be the young Fantine of the play. It was a great experience for me because I love acting as well. I also dreamed of performing in a known theater someday.
If there's an instance in your life that you experienced failure, don't you ever feel so low. Instead, tell yourself that one day, you'll be able to reach all your dreams and wants in your life. Just continue what you love to do and be happy always. And of course, do not forget to pray
